opals

theres a lot of opals here. its even mentioned in the guide book. waitwait first i would like to say i´m wearing a short skirt and a tank top and its DECEMBER. ok opals. my friend and i went with this lady to see opal mines today (she lied and says they only exist here in erandique...hondurans lie a lot). i thought it would be all caves and stalagmites, but nope, it was just a field of rocks. the lady had a lazy eye though.
have i mentioned that we come from a very individualist culture and honduras is a collective culture. i consider myself a pretty social person but this is getting a li´l rediculous! i eat...walk 5 steps... talk...talk ...bondbond ...social...bond. ..walk..eat...bond. ..talktalk... chatchat... bond.... exhausted and haven´t even spread the word of the condom! they think its crazy that we don´t know our neighbors names. and when i tell them i´ve never seen the inside of my neighbors houses they flip. system overload.
i´m going to a midwife training all next week. cool huh? you know they don´t give anything for pain here. nothing. nada. zip. we have a birthing clinic here. when the women from the surrounding communities are about to pop they stay here until theyre ready to press the baby out. the previous volunteer saw something like 28 births. i can´t wait!
19 days!!!!!! i cannot believe it! 19. nine TEEN. i´m in the teens. i´m nervous. have i changed? have you all changed? its gonna be awkward. happy christmas? it still feels like summer! 10 months. thats a long time.
ohmigod! change my life! i have figured out how to put pictures with my blog entires. sweetsweet lordy. ohmigod. the world of technology is moving so fast!
